The National is a Church of England academy, offering an all-round education for pupils from the age of 11 to 19. It began life as a small school in 1788, and has served the community of Hucknall ever since. Today, we are a thriving, popular academy, in a pleasant setting which looks onto open countryside. Our aim is to provide a happy and stimulating environment in which young people can develop and grow; to prepare them so that when they leave us, they are confidently able to take their places in the world, as well qualified and responsible citizens. Our staff work very hard to ensure that our pupils do the very best that they can, and we are proud of the high quality of teaching that we offer.
In return, we expect our pupils also to work hard, behave well, and do their best. Perhaps this is why our academy is so high achieving, academically and in other areas. We are proud of our exam outcomes at GCSE and A level, because we believe that they have helped youngsters to have greater opportunities. We welcome children of all faiths, and of none, who seek education within a framework of strong moral values. I look forward to meeting you.
