The National is a successful, dynamic Church of England academy, offering an all-round education for pupils from the age of 11 to 19. It began life as a small school in 1788, and has served the community of Hucknall ever since. Today, we are a thriving, popular academy, in an attractive setting looking onto open countryside. Our aim is to provide a happy and stimulating environment in which young people can develop and grow; to prepare them so that when they leave us, they are able to take their places in the world, as well qualified and responsible citizens, with strong values. Our staff work very hard to ensure that our pupils do the best that they can, and we are proud of the high quality of teaching that we offer.
In return, we expect our pupils to work hard, behave well, and do their best. Perhaps this is why our academy is so high achieving, academically and in other areas. We are proud of our exam outcomes at GCSE and A level, because we believe that they have helped youngsters to have greater opportunities and improved life chances.
We are an Anglican foundation. This does not mean that we only accept pupils from a Christian background. We welcome children of all faiths, and of none, who seek education within a framework of strong moral values. As you will discover from this website, our school has a great deal to offer; and I look forward to meeting you if you wish to find out more.
