Supporting Forget-Me-Notts at Christmas

15th December 2017

Supporting Forget Me NottsOnce again this year we have been supporting Operation Orphan’s ‘Forget-Me-Notts’ campaign, providing donations of selection boxes to children in crisis at Christmas time. The tutor group Worcester 7 have been our lead group in raising enough money to send out Cadbury’s selection boxes to children who may otherwise receive nothing at this time of year. The wrapped boxes are sent to children’s services in the Ashfield and City districts of Nottinghamshire and then distributed to put smiles on faces during this festive period.

For the advent collection students and their families were asked to contribute a minimum of 50p which enabled the academy to buy over 250 selection boxes with the money collected. Students have been co-ordinating the packing and wrapping of the boxes, and are very understanding of the importance of supporting those in need.

Student Ellie said; “It sets a really good example to show other academies and schools that you can make a difference, that a small contribution goes a long way in life if everyone pulls together.” Another Worcester student, Regan, added; “The kids in crisis who will get a card and gift to show they are cared for. As a tutor group, our confidence has grown through taking part – it is good to do something good and be kind.”

Thank you to everyone who has contributed and to our students for displaying great compassion, care and sensitivity during their involvement in this project.
