Mission Week: 5-9 March 2018

2nd March 2018

Mission week 2018From Monday, we will be celebrating Mission Week here at the academy with the theme this year of ‘Hope’. Activities and sessions through the week have been designed to support students to understand their own responses to the questions ‘what do you hope for?’ and ‘when life is tough, what gives you hope?’

On Monday and Tuesday we will be joined by musician Phillipa Hanna who will be delivering sessions for all years groups about how her music and her faith has supported her personal growth and mental health. On Tuesday she will also be performing, and providing songwriting workshops for students of all year groups.

On Wednesday we will be visited by members of the Heart Church from Nottingham who will welcome students into drop-in sessions, together with their band performing a gig in the Whiting Room at lunchtime.

Thursday gives students the opportunity to ‘Grill a Christian’ – there will be a panel of Christians from our chaplaincy team and staff. Anything you’ve ever wanted to know about Christianity, you can ask these questions about faith, hope, religion and a different perspective on life.

Also throughout the week, our academy chaplain will offer drop-ins for students and staff to speak with him about their own faith, there will be staff providing ‘random act of kindness’, we will be litter picking to show respect for our academy environment, students can show their appreciation of academy staff, and we will create a huge piece of artwork within homegroups to celebrate the end of Mission Week.

Throughout the week, we really want to engage with all students, and provide an understanding of what it means to give hope to others.
