Strange forces at work in physics lessons!

Rotational forces experimentThere’s always something a bit madcap going on in Mr Newcombe’s physics lessons and today our year 12 students were swinging around a bucket of water as they explored rotational forces. The challenge was to work out the centripetal acceleration which would equal free-fall to predict how slowly it could be done before the water fell out of the bucket.

Unfortunately, due to a miscalculation, Jacky ended up getting a soaking (unfortunately not captured on video!) but science is all about experimentation we guess!
