Supporting Holland Park School

23rd June 2017

Green for GrenfellStudents and academies throughout Diverse Academies Learning Partnership have been involved in a range of activities this week to raise money for Holland Park School in London, and to show solidarity at this difficult time following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower.

Holland Park has unfortunately and tragically felt the impact of these terrible events. Grenfell Tower sits within the school’s catchment area, and you may have seen media reports of children turning up for their GCSE exams in their pyjamas on the day following the incident. One of Holland Park’s current students and their family are still missing, with another student and ex-student narrowly escaping from the blaze.

The academies have been fundraising to support the school as there is an existing connection between Holland Park and Diverse Academies. As recently as last year, one of our academy directors and executive principals spent some time at the school with headteacher Colin Hall to share ideas and resources. The events of last week resonated with our academy leaders even more so because of this bond that was forged in those days.

Within the Diverse Academies, all pupils and students are taught the values of charity, caring for others and equality. The care that our academy communities have shown for others at their time of need has been exceptional, with students understanding and embracing the need to support their peers at Holland Park School during this difficult time.

All monies raised will be donated directly to Holland Park for them to use within their school to most effectively support students, staff and the local community at this time. Our thoughts are with all affected by this terrible tragedy.
