Personal Development including Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance

Personal Development key Stage 3 & 4:

The whole curriculum promotes pupils’ attainment and helps prepare them for life but some areas such as; Citizenship, PE and RE make a more specific contribution to personal development than others.

In addition, the areas of personal, social and health education, careers education, enterprise education, work-related learning and financial capability also contribute to pupils’ personal development.

Time-tabled Personal Development (PD) is a combination of several distinct topics:

Rights and responsibilities
Identity and diversity (living together in the UK)
Critical thinking

Personal, social, health education
Sex and relationship education
Drug and Alcohol awareness education

Economic Wellbeing
Careers education
Enterprise education
Work related learning
Financial capability

In addition to the one lesson per week of Personal Development there is a cross-curricula approach to common themes
