In This Section

For year 7 students joining us at the beginning of each academic year, we host a two day transition experience to support our new students as they become acclimatised to a secondary education environment. During this time, students will participate in teaching and learning through taster lessons, join their Home Group and, on the third day, follow a timetable and navigate the site independently.

Parents and carers will be invited into the academy community for a welcome evening during the week following this process.

To help with the transition process, students from our ‘Big School Buddies’ who are current year 7, visit our primary feeder schools who have students moving up to National. This provides a valuable opportunity for them to share their experiences of being in a new academy, and give upcoming year 6 students the chance to ask questions.

Transition booklet

To support the transition process, we provide all students who successfully achieve a place at National with an information booklet to help them and their families before they begin. This is provided during the summer term, prior to any transition events.
