On Tuesday this week National took a team of budding athletes and sporting stars to the DALP Games at Grantham Meres Sports Centre to compete against other academies across the Diverse Academies trust.
The day was a truly enjoyable celebration of sport with students from secondary, primary and special academies getting involved in track and field events, netball, basketball, hockey and futsal.
At the end of the event East Leake Academy triumphed in the secondary category for the fourth year running, but National finished in a creditable second place to take the silver medal after the points were totted up. Thrumpton Primary Academy took home the prize in the primary category.
The event was a brilliant day of sport, competition, support and friendship – it was lovely to see all competitors supporting students from their own and other academies. There was a real spirit of sportsmanship from everyone in attendance, and we were delighted to be a part of it.
Well done to all of our team members for their efforts and to our staff for their support and guidance.
