Yesterday our under 13 girls’ football team competed in the English Schools cup competition, taking on John Port Spencer Academy from Etwall in Derbyshire.
On a cold, wet and blustery afternoon, the girls were frustrated on a number of occasions as the game ebbed and flowed from end-to-end. Shots flew just wide and skimmed the posts, and it was looking like it might not be National’s day. However, late in the second half, Jacee popped up to score the only goal of the game, relieving the tension and putting our girls into the next round with a tough-fought 1-0 victory.
A big well done to the team for digging deep and sticking together as a team – the team also had five year seven students making their National debuts, all acquitting themselves brilliantly. Good luck for the next round!
