Year 9 footballers progress in cup competition

On Thursday last week our year 9 boys’ football team continued their quest for silverware in the second round of the Nottinghamshire Schools’ FA, Chaplain Shield taking on a strong team from Joseph Whitaker School.

A cracking game full of skill, passion, teamwork and goals, goals, goals saw National earn a place in the third round of the competition. National began the stronger of the sides, scoring a goal early on from Kai P, with Joseph Whittaker Academy levelling shortly after. The back and forth of goals continued with the score 2-2 as the boys came off at half-time.

Kai P grabbed his second of the match following some intelligent footwork, before William K put the tie firmly in National’s favour scoring our fourth as the game appeared to run away from our visitors. However, a third for Joseph Whitaker made for a tense finale until the match was finally settled with Finlay C slotting home to make the final score 5-3.

A very well fought game from both sides who should be proud of their players. Well done to National on progressing in the competition – keep up the great work.
