On Friday afternoon, a small number of parents contacted us suggesting the possibility of aggression between National and other local schools after the school day. I want to reassure you that everything at National remained completely calm and normal, and there were no issues whatsoever.
We fully understand the anxiety these posts have caused within our community — this is, unfortunately, exactly what they were designed to do. Throughout the school day on Friday, we received no information at all to indicate that there were any concerns, and the day ran as usual. After school, there were absolutely no problems outside the Academy, and the situation remained entirely normal.
Since Friday, a few more parents have been in touch to share further online rumours. As previously advised, we strongly recommend monitoring your child’s social media use and discussing with them the importance of staying safe online. The Police are fully aware of the posts circulating at the moment.
At present, there is no police intelligence to suggest that any of these social media claims will be acted upon. They appear to be designed solely to cause worry and alarm. Please be assured that student safety remains our highest priority. It is important that children know how to handle alarming or misleading online content, but in relation to these specific posts, we do not want to amplify rumours and contribute in any way to the fear they spread.
If we receive any advice or updates from the Police, we will respond immediately and keep you fully informed.
Thank you for your concern, your understanding, and your continued support.
